Corporal Steve Fuentes Named OPD Officer of the Month for February
Corporal Steve Fuentes has been selected as the OPD Officer of the Month for February of 2018. Corporal Fuentes was born and raised in Fort Stockton and has been employed with the Odessa Police Department for approximately four years. Corporal Fuentes is currently assigned to the Operations Bureau, Patrol Shift B as a Field Training Officer and is also a member of the S.W.A.T. Team. Corporal Fuentes exudes a friendly yet professional attitude towards his work, peers and the community he serves. He takes pride in portraying a professional and neat appearance and actively works out to stay in shape physically as well as mentally.
As the Mission Statement of the Odessa Police Department aspires to provide the highest quality of police services to the citizens of Odessa, Corporal Fuentes and his training officer put that in action. On Saturday, March 4, 2018, Corporal Fuentes and PPO Nicholas Moore responded to the 900 block of Monahans in reference to a juvenile problem. According to the officers there was no visible disturbance so they joined the kids in a game of basketball. It started out with just a few children and then more children joined in. Corporal Fuentes also took the time to interact with the residents in that neighborhood. The Odessa Police Department believes in the concept of community policing and Corporal Fuentes expounded on it as well as training a new officer on the concept.
