Officer Nathaniel Garcia Named OPD Officer of the Month for March
Officer Nathaniel Garcia has been selected as the OPD Officer of the Month for March of 2018. He was born and raised in Odessa and graduated from Permian High School. Officer Garcia has been employed with the Odessa Police Department since September of 2016 and is currently assigned to the Operations Bureau, Patrol Shift A. He has exhibited professionalism and dedication by conducting investigations, which resulted in 9 felony arrests for the month of March.
One of the incidents occurred on 3-23-18, when Officer Garcia responded to a burglary of a habitation in the 900 block of West 31st Street. Upon his arrival, he was also advised about several auto burglaries in the area, including a stolen vehicle. The stolen vehicle was confirmed stolen and recovered. During the investigation, 7 suspects were observed running from a residence in the area.
All 7 suspects were later located, detained, positively identified and subsequently arrested for Burglary of a Habitation “2nd Degree Felony”, Theft of Property “State Jail Felony”, and Burglary of a Vehicle “Class A Misdemeanor”. A search warrant was also obtained for the residence where the suspects were seen running from, which resulted in stolen property being recovered and returned to its owner.
