Odessa Police Make Arrest in Connection to Stabbing Investigation
Odessa Police arrested Tabitha Irene Spencer, date of birth 11/14/1989, on 8-3-18 at approximately 0111 hours for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Family Violence) “1st Degree Felony” and Abandoning or Endangering a Child “State Jail Felony”. Officers responded to the 9200 block of Cabrito Drive in reference to a stab victim. Dispatch advised that the caller had stabbed her husband.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with a 34-year-old male subject and his wife, identified as Spencer. Officers observed the 34-year-old male to have a stab wound on his face and further observed a kitchen knife on the bed next to him. Spencer stated to officers that she had stabbed her husband.
The 34-year-old male was transported to Medical Center Hospital with serious bodily injury. Further investigation revealed that Spencer and her husband had left their 8-year-old daughter at their residence without adult supervision while they went to a bar to consume alcoholic beverages.
Spencer was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the ECLEC. CPS was notified of the incident and took custody of the 8-year-old child. More charges are anticipated as the investigation continues.
OPD Detectives Charge Woman in Connection to Injury to a Child Investigation
Odessa Police arrested Patricia Maria Armendariz, date of birth 01/29/1986, on 8-2-18 at approximately 1707 hours for Injury to a Child (Family Violence) “3rd Degree Felony”. Back on 7-7-18, an assault was reported to the Odessa Police Department. The complainant reported that a 13-year-old female had been assaulted by her mother for not doing her chores correctly.
Investigation revealed that the mother, identified as Armendariz, assaulted her 13-year-old daughter by kicking her on multiple locations throughout her body. Further investigation revealed that Armendariz had assaulted her 10-year-old daughter with a metal broom handle for making her baby sister cry.
The 10-year-old sustained a 5-inch linear bruise on her left arm, consistent with being struck by a broom handle. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, OPD detectives obtained a warrant for Armendariz, who was eventually charged and arrested accordingly.
