Wanted Felon Arrested after Confronting Officers at Odessa Police Department with Shotgun
Odessa Police Arrested Nicolas Luna Lopez, date of birth 06/11/1980, on 8-6-18 at approximately 1910 hours for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon “3rd Degree Felony”, Prohibited Weapon “3rd Degree Felony”, Public Intoxication “Class C Misdemeanor”, and for a parole violation warrant.
While officers were leaving briefing and exiting the west doors of the Odessa Police Department, they observed a Dodge Journey pull into the sally port. The front passenger began to shout out the window at officers before exiting the listed vehicle. Officers immediately observed the male subject to have a shotgun within one foot of his right hand.
The male subject, later identified as Lopez, began to reach for the shotgun and officers immediately detained him. Officers retrieved the loaded shotgun from the vehicle. Officers found Lopez to be intoxicated on a substance other than alcohol. Lopez admitted that he had just smoked methamphetamine.
Investigation revealed that Lopez had a parole violation warrant. Further investigation revealed that Lopez was a convicted felon. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Lopez was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.

Man Arrested in Connection to Assault / Child Endangerment Investigation
Odessa Police arrested Christopher Paul Tinner, date of birth 10/11/1995, on 8-5-18 at approximately 1521 hours for Assault by Strangulation “3rd Degree Felony” and Endangering a Child “State Jail Felony”. Officers responded to the 800 block of South Grant in reference to a disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with a 19-year-old female and her boyfriend, identified as Tinner. Investigation revealed that after both subjects got into an argument, Tinner placed his arm around his girlfriend’s neck and began dragging her in the 800 block of South Grant. Officers observed bruising on the girlfriend’s neck.
Further investigation revealed that Tinner was holding their 1-year-old child in one arm while dragging his girlfriend, risking the chance of dropping the child into the busy street. A witness reported that while they were driving in the 800 block of South Grant, they observed Tinner pulling his girlfriend’s hair and choking her.
Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Tinner was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. CPS was notified about the incident.

Registration Violation Leads to Arrest of Bexar County Fugitive with 30.1 Grams of Meth
Odessa Police arrested Juventino Saldana Hurtado Jr., date of birth 01/16/1991, on 8-6-18 at approximately 2316 hours for Delivery of Methamphetamine “1st Degree Felony” and for a probation warrant out of Bexar County. Officers observed a 2010 Dodge Chrysler traveling in the area of 8th and West County Road with no registration sticker displayed on the front windshield.
A traffic stop was conducted on the listed vehicle and the passenger was identified as Hurtado. Investigation revealed that Hurtado had a probation warrant out of Bexar County. Hurtado was transported to the ECLEC and found to be in possession of 30.1 grams of methamphetamine. Hurtado was charged and arrested accordingly.
